March 15, 2011 – Comic Gilbert Gottfried's humor has been known to rub some people the wrong way, but a recent remark about the tragedy in Japan has cost Gottfried the job as the voice of the AFLAC Insurance duck.
AFLAC officials fired Gottfried on Monday for several jokes poking fun of the Japanese and earthquakes and tsunami waves he broadcast from his Twitter account over the weekend. Gottfried was to voice of the AFLAC duck since the popular ads first appeared in 2000. His voice was not used in commercials airing in Japan, where AFLAC generates about 75 percent of the insurer's annual revenue. But AFLAC officials severed their relationship with the comic.

Report: Individual Health Insurance Rates Rising Despite Federal Law
Sept. 14, 2010 – Despite federal efforts to make health insurance more affordable and expand coverage to more people, the cost of health insurance continues to rise by an average 20 percent annually, according to the nonprofit Kaiser Family Foundation.
Foundation officials recently released results of their national health insurance survey of individuals who do not have group health insurance, and the results suggest most won't be able to continue paying for their own health insurance without cutting costs elsewhere. A large majority – 77 percent – of those surveyed said their health insurance premiums were scheduled to increase by at least 20 percent this year. About 14 million Americans obtain their health insurance coverage through non-group policies, according to the Kaiser Family Foundation.

Sept. 15, 2010 – Despite generally poor economic conditions, vehicle theft rates across the United States generally declined for the sixth consecutive year in 2009, but drivers living in the West need to be extra cautious.
A May 17 report issued by the National Insurance Crime Bureau indicates 304 of 366 metropolitan areas – including suburbs and neighboring communities – reported fewer auto thefts last year than in 2008. About 83 percent of metropolitan areas in 2009 experienced auto theft declines of as much as 18 percent when compared to 2008.

Homeowners Insurance Terms
Homeowners Form – Provides property insurance for dwellings in average to good condition and in which the insured party lives. Also can have up to two renters per family to qualify for homeowners form coverage.
Homeowners Coverage A – Insurance coverage generally applies to the dwelling and attached structures.
Homeowners Coverage B – Insures other structures on the insured property that are not directly attached to the dwelling other than by a fence, utility line or similar connection. Does not apply to land or property used for commercial purposes.
